Menards Cheap Tool Shop Routers
« on: January 26, 2008, 11:32:26 pm »
I saw this "Tool Shop" router yesterday at Menard's that is a plunge type, has 1/4" & 1/2" collets, 12 bits, and a 100% replacement guarantee. $64 for all. Worth it for small jobs or should I save up for a Ryobi or Bosch or something? I have seen those more expensive brands at pawn shops but who knows what you are getting at those places....

I won't be using it all that much, mostly for t-molding and maybe a trackball/joystick or 2. I keep going back and forth on what to do.... :dunno

Sounds like it's probably a piece of junk to me. If you don't mind buying junk, you'd probably save some money by going to Harbor Freight...

Ya, I'm sure it's junk. It's the 100% guarantee that keeps me a-thinking about it.....And It's should at least work for my minor stuff.

Probably. Just make sure you buy one that doesn't have much runout. It would suck to route your entire cabinet for T-molding, then find out that the router was spinning your bit slightly off center and had turned your 1/16th-inch slot into 3/32nds or 1/8th. In that case, I'm sure Menards would give you another router, but they probably won't pay for all the wood you ruined...
