How do I edit controls.ini so that LED WIZ lights correct buttons?

Hey, can anyone help me with this issue. I am running MALA 1.04 with VCPO3 layout that shows the controls for each game. I have one LED WIZ that controls all my buttons LEDS. Pretty much all the games are correct and it works great with the controls.ini. I have found a few games that are not correct, ie, there are extra buttons lit up and displayed on the layout.

Can someone show me a step by step way to edit the controls.ini so that I delete or change the extra buttons game by game? I searched the forums and did not find the specific answer to this question. I know this should be easy, and I did try to edit the controls.ini, but it did not work for me. I must be not doing all the steps right.

One game in particular that I noticed is Hyer Olympic '84, it shows 4 buttons to play when it only needs 3 buttons, 2 run and one action button. The history shows this to be correct for 3 buttons. I am pretty sure that I have the most recent controls file. Any suggestions?

Ok, I refreshed the main game list. Still the same. I even tried to create an entry for Hyper Olympic '84, but it did not change.

Could it be the Layout of Mala VCPO3 that is showing incorrectly or is it because controls.dat project does not have every rom in the ini?

Any one got a step by step directions on how to correct games in the controls.ini? anyone had luck with this at all?

Edit the controls.ini - set P1NumButtons=3 and delete the entry for the 4th button P1_BUTTON4=??. That should do the trick.
