As I am just starting to put my cabinet together, I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on this monitor.  It sounds like it would be fine for a MAME / ArcadeVGA machine, though I originally planned to use a 19" since most of my favorite MAME games are older games which, if I recall, had 19" monitors (Tempest, Frogger, Tapper, Donkey Kong, Ms. Pac-man) mounted vertically.

I know RetoBlast! reviewed it a while back and they liked it, but they also liked the Wells-Gardner D9200 which have had recent problems.  A plus is that Betson is located about 45 minutes from here so I wouldn't have to pay shipping.

Also, I am strongly considering mounting it in a rotating frame so if anyone has had experience with rotating this (or any other 27") monitor, please let me know if its a bad idea.

If you are in driving distance from Betson, I'd say it's a no brainer (you save $100+ on shipping).  About the biggest complaint about the Betson recently is some 'squishing' of the image on the extreme sides of the screen.  But if you find it looks bad, you can just take it back. 

Just my opinion, but if you are going for a rotating setup, then I'd get a 19" monitor not a 27".  The vertical games will look way too big on a rotated 27" monitor.

That was my concern, actually.  I might wind up making two cabs: one fixed vertical 19" and one fixed horizontal 27".  That might be a better, though more expensive, solution.  Thanks.

The question is whether I can fit two cabs in the same room that already has a Skeeball Machine.

btw, I bought one of these, and there shipping was like 40 bucks.  I ended up being 400 and change delivered to my door!  Got here is 2 or 3 days.

Use a 27" horz monitor and also use it for vertical games.  The Vertical games on the 27" horz will be about the same size as a 19" vertical.  A rotating monitor is totally unnecessary!

I have also come to that conclusion.  Now the only question is how to mount it so that the screen can be tilted forward and backward using some kind of hydraulics to take the weight off.

Noob question here guys...after spending 3 or 4 hours on this forum researching monitors, here's what I have come to:
Sounds like the WG D9XXX series is out of the question due to quality. I think I have settled on this Betson. Will I need an ArcadeVGA card too? Is there anything else I need with this particular monitor (i.e., VGA cable, I know I'll probably need power cable)?

The Betson comes with the VGA cable and power cable.  All you need to do is plug it in.

It works well with an ArcadeVGA and mine works equally well with an old Radeon 9600 card using the Soft15khz program.
