Wow, nigerian scammers will use anything won't they?
« on: January 24, 2008, 12:47:38 pm »
I read an article dealing with Capuchin monkeys as quadripalegic helpers in Reader's Digest, and then did a bit of research on them online. I also tried a search to see if people actually have these things as pets in my area - I saw some in a parade once in town, so I do know someone does at least. I find this ad with the search.
http://www.almondsoft.com/pro/index.php?ct=pet4&md=details&id=2599&lrgphp=1&lnph=3&

I was actually amazed something popped up local. Anyways, I sent an email to the person asking them basic questions about these animals as pets, and mentioned I'd like to come see them during my lunch (not to adopt, but just to see. No way I want one of these in my house for the next 30 years).

I then get this glorious email back in an hour or so:

Quote
hello the baby capuchin are still available and they are medically welland they are friendly with kids and adults.i am giving them out foradoption is because of my scholarships i have in Cameroon to study inAustralia for further study, and more to that pets are not allow to getinto Australia that is why i have been looking for a new home for thembut i never saw one but now i see that u will provide all what i needfor the little cute capuchin ,a female her pictures are below, they arecalled Lina and Lino, they comes along with a crate and some play toys, iwas told in the shop where i had Haily they eats both fresh and dryfood 2 times daily. right now i have only one option to give them outto you because now i am no longer in the states i am in hickorytown, street 14abangoh bay , in Cameroon so the only option is i willship her to you .so right now i am on my way to the insurance because ia m new here so i want every thing to go well thats why i am contactingthem. so i am giving them out because there is no one they can playwith or i am not always at home to play with her and please promise mein Gods name you are going to take good care of them.just know you andyour family are the new home for them now.adoption fees is800$FOR onemy contact number is 0023796894142feelfree to call me at any time okget back asap i have already made their passport what is lacking is thehipping fee which is 500$ including adoption so i will be waiting onyour call at0023796894142or+23796894142

What the hell?!? Why would this person post this ad as "Charleston, West Virginia" of all places, and why go thru the effort of the baby monkey backstory? I'm just baffled. Now I feel obligated to let them two things just to be a smart ass:

1. It's illegal to import exotic monkeys to the U.S.
2. You can't get passports for frikkin monkeys  :laugh2: :laugh2:

That's almost as bad as me following Shee Goth from DirecTV's Halloweek onto the net just so I can see if she has topless pics out there, finding none but finding Thee Goth (the other Halloweek host) on myspace and using his methed up goth to the world videos to taunt tommy.

That's okay.  I keep getting bombarded by e-mails from some Japanese guy claiming that he has "lots of money that he needs me help with in getting over to US account funds".  I was getting at least three of these a day until I noticed that the complete retard uses the same series of letters prior to the "@" and then uses different domains from which it's coming from.  So I set up my e-mail to reject anything with the specific letters he uses in the address.  I really wish I could do what one of my friends did and that's set up his e-mail so that when he gets spam it replies back constantly for as long as his computer is up an running.  The retards who spam him then get thousands upon thousands of junk replies right back and either their ISP shuts them down, or they just completely give up.   ;D  (I'm really more shocked that my friend's ISP hasn't shut him down for sending out so much e-mail.  But with each e-mail being one or two k it's not a whole lot).

Reminds me of the time I crafted a script to craft passable but fake random credit card numbers along with pertinate valid information and flooding a spammer with them. I wonder what he must've thought when he got fake credit card numbers with addresses for hundreds of police stations, stadiums and public parks across the country.  :laugh2: :laugh2:
