vid cab startup current draw?

I've been poking around trying to find this but no luck.  Anyone here know the average startup draw of a classic cab?  I'm setting up my gameroom now using some remote control outlets to get around the power switch being on the back.  I seem to remember cabs pull 2-3A each but startup is probably a good amount higher, yes? 

BTW, now is a great time to grab stuff like this, they're all on super clearance in the Xmas decoration dept.  I picked up mine for 75% off.

The 2 to 3a IS the start up draw.

Oh nice.  So they don't pull substantially more on startup than they do in operation?

From what I've read before, the amperage ratings on the tags on arcade machine represent their maximum draw, which would be on power-up. Once the monitor is charged, it all drops down to about 1a.

Hopefully someone like Ken Layton can come in and confirm this. I'm just going on my fuzzy memory.

Wow... 10amp/600watts? That's nice, I better go check it out. A lot better than when I was 18 and I jury rigged some crap using a ratshack garage door controller and a relay to get remote controlled power. I wonder where it is now?

I bought one at Target and one at CVS... though right now, pretty much any store that was carrying Xmas decorations will have them on clearance if they aren't either all gone or that floor segment has been repurposed.  Now is definitely the time to pick up all sorts of useful power distribution toys.  Spider style outlet strips (for lots of wall warts) are great to pick up now too.
