Buggy Boy / Speed Buggy
« on: January 07, 2008, 05:56:20 pm »
Firstly, Thanks to the Devs.  This is a great and fun game :)

Maybe 2yrs ago, I was at an Auction.   There was a standup  Buggy Boy (or speed buggy).

Id never played it before, so was very cool to get that chance.

But...  Now that its in mame, Ive noticed a difference in gameplay...

In mame, when you hit the a  'gate'  pole,  you slow down a hair.    However, in the version I
played... if you hit the poles you were bounced backwards!  Also,  the point value changed
to a lower value on the gate banner!   If you missed too many times, I think it didnt award any
points!   I recall it being very difficult... so I evaded all the gates to see how far I could get.

 Questions:

Has anyone else played that version?   And... Is Mames version just different  OR  is there
an error in it?   OR is there a certain setting that changes the way the game operates?

Maybe the 3 screen version boards are different,  and were the ones inside that
standup cab?

 Anyone?

You may want to report this as a possible MAME bug at http://www.mametesters.org .  Someone on that forum might know more.

Well, I just got hold of one collector who said his machine works the same way
mame does.

He was not sure if theres a Dip switch setting to change it.

Maybe only certain versions utilized this feature.

Heya man,

Cool to see ya here.  :)

Im guessing that maybe it was a different board set.

 Hope someone finds it.
