Need help calibrating gun in *individual* games
« on: January 06, 2008, 10:39:41 pm »
Hi all,

I've just bought an EMS LCD Lightgun, and after a few hours and reading 10's of posts I've got it all configured and the windows cursor is following the laser pointer perfectly.

The issue I'm having is that in MAME lightgun games the cursor seems to be randomly offset, as if the screen was a different size than it actually is. For games where there is IN GAME calibration, such as Alien3 and Point Blank 2, I can calibrate it and it works fine from then on.

Unfortunately for games WITHOUT in-game calibration, such as Jurassic Park, and Point Blank 1, I'm kind of stuck... Is there a way I can manually edit individual game configs with the maximum x/y positions for my gun (eg manual calibration?)

Considering the cursor is fine, the light gun is recognised etc (ALL light gun games recognise its movement and the trigger once I map the fire button to 'mouse0') it doesnt seem to be a driver or 'type of gun' issue... so I hope I dont have to start that debate again here. Surely there's a way on these other games to calibrate?

FYI,
I'm running Mame 1.06
Microsoft Win2k
EMS supplied drivers

AFAIK the 'smog' drivers only work for XP and at this stage I cant change the O/S or the MAME version (long story, just trust me).
