LCD Topguns and 64bit CPU/OS
« on: December 31, 2007, 12:17:41 am »
Hey there all,

I currently have a P4 2.8ghz machine running WinXP as my mame arcade.  I'm tinkering with the idea of upgrading my machine to perhaps a Core2Duo and right now have a Athlon 64 X2 4200.

My question is, if I use my current AMD system as my arcade and toss in 64 bit XP or Vista, what kind of issues will I have with my dual EMS LCD topgun lightguns?  I know getting them to work correctly under the current setup was tricky and certain games need a custom config.  But right now, they all work great in everything from duck hunt to Terminator 2.

So, whats the driver/setup problems I am looking at if I make the jump to a 64bit arcade machine?

Appreciate any info!

I haven't tried, but I'm guessing it will be a big no-go.  Drivers in vista64 and xp64 still suck for lots of older items.  And it doesn't buy you much.

You might want to email a few of the guys writing their own drivers for the topgun.  They will DEFINATELY support 64 before the offical drivers do... they suck

Bumping this because of relevance to another post. Do you know of who is writing the drivers? I want mame to work so bad in vista64 with the topguns. I was under the impression that they were working on a driver, but it looks like they ran into some issues with microsoft saying that they needed some sort of certification.

Appreciate any info, thanks...

make sure that you enable multiple mice in mame. It defaults to only wanting one. Then go into the game config and set em up:-) If you don't have version 116. and up, there is'nt any support for multiple mice/lightguns.
