New Here
« on: December 30, 2007, 04:24:11 pm »
Hey everyone, as you can tell I'm new here :).

I've gone off and on for many years with my interest in Neo-Geo and obtaining one of the crazily expensive systems.  I noticed arcade cabinets before but I thought they were stupid/waste of time.  After I don't more reading I see the work that goes into them and they're amazing.  hahah, I've basically flipped a 180.  They look like a lot of fun and I can only assume they are especially when having my friends over, if I can get them to come hehe.  Anyhow, I look forward to learning a lot and hopefully being able to share some of my knowledge.

Did you ever have any dealings with NGF as of late?

In any case, since you're such a fan of NeoGeo have you ever looked at the NeoGeo cabs?

I have but they seem to be pretty pricey.  I'm probably going to be building my own cab.  I'd like to have a 4 player control panel instead of only 2.  2 would be fun but I think 4 players would be sweet for oldschool stuff, like The Simpsons Arcade game hahah.

I'm not sure what NGF is though, I assume a user or business that deals with Neo-Geo stuff?

The NeoGeo hardware is pretty popular. On my last purchase spree, I had a choice between a single slot NeoGeo board or a Ms Pac-Man board. I went with the MsP, but I walked away with a NeoGeo game that needs cleaning. I still kind of wonder if I should've gone with the NeoGeo board instead.

NeoGeo Freaks. He doesn't post around here. Instead he hides out in his own locked forum filled with ass kissers. I detest that ---smurfing--- ---uvula---. He's known to reprint NeoGeo inserts with "correct" information but slap the NGF logo over NeoGeo's and give the impression NGF manufactured the game. Then he often convinces "collectors" that the original NeoGeo printings should be shredded, then makes a big showing of shredding them at trade shows. He's also known to damage instruction manuals with NGF stamps and, early on, has done extremely shoddy cart conversion work. He's been accused of strong arming (literally, he looks like he lifts weights last I checked) private collectors. Often cheats collectors out of pre-agreed sales where he has the most to gain from the sale (ie, one example would be a $200+common cart trade for a rare cart trade. He would wait to receive the rare cart then renege on the deal in some fashion. When the original seller demanded the cart back and the deal canceled, the cart would be returned in an  "upgraded" state... ie damaged.). Was involved in a lawsuit against NeoGeo (and has won), openly insulted the daughter of the founder(CEO?) of NeoGeo and has openly insulted the overall business practices of NeoGeo. Because of the lawsuit, part of the deal is that NGF is now the only official distributer of all things NeoGeo. Has openly insulted "purists," such as myself, who like to collect original unaltered games, including any incorrect original artwork or printings. He's also consumed huge collections from NeoGeo such as original print screens, films, artwork, prototypes, memos, etc and has continued to dangle the collection in front of collectors with promises of scans, releases, whatever. (There's nothing wrong with collecting material such as this, it's the fact he continues to dangle such a collection in front of people like a carrot in front of a horse and never feeding it to the horse at the end of the trip. AFAIK, the only people who have ever viewed this collection in whole are those who have their mouths latched tight to his ---uvula---. If you browse NGF, you'll find tantalizing images of the collection for us commoners. IMO, either put the collection away and shut up or bring it completely out in the open for everyone to see.)

I tell everyone never to do business with him.

But it's your choice. I just wanted to know if you ever had any experience with him in the past.

No, I haven't messed with them.

I cannot wait to get the system, I'm excited.  Just gotta pick up another controller and more AES carts though!!
