yet another COMPONENT video question
« on: December 13, 2007, 02:19:25 am »
ok i did a search and went thru first 3 pages, i found no answer.  I have an ATI X1900XTX in my cab, im using the component adapter it came with (plug to video with component ONLY on the other end,not the s-video/comp adapter/), s-video is hooked up for now to a 27'' tv that has both svideo and component.  with S-video i can now see fonts in windows and its great, composite isnt working right.

So i went out and bought 2 sets of Component cables, $11 cheapies and $45 philips. Cheap ones are on it now but video is purple. i hooked up DVD player with component to tv, no picture, i plugged each wire in 1 at a time, green was first and VOILA the movie looked great, yet the other 2 cables were NOT plugged in.. WTH is this.  The pc plugged in with green looks clear but faint color almost greyscale, adding blue wire and nothing happens, finally red (now all three connected) and picture is purple. i dont get it.

update...so i plugged each color cable, one by one, into another color, putting the BLUE cable into the GREEN plug gives me color , same crispness as svideo, but im not seein the lines moving from right to left now, the other cables either do nothing, a weird red/blue swirling, or a greyscale picture.    WTH. I've been watching batman begins on it, extended desktop to it.  looks great.  so whats with the 3 cables if one obviously carry signal.

the YPrPb ANALOG signal designation is as follows

Y    luminance /sync/green chroma
Pr   red chroma
Pb  blue  chroma

YCrCb is the DIGITAL equivalent

that doesnt answer my question..or at least i may not fully understand it,  but why is only having the BLUE from PC hooked to the GREEN on TV giving me the only picture, and a great picture at that.  the green and red cables are just hanging there.
