WinModelines: Video driver modifier for 15kHz
« on: December 10, 2007, 10:32:56 am »
Hello everyone.

Jeroni Paul from Spain has written a Windows based application to add 15kHz compatible video modes to ATI, Nvidia and Matrox display adapter drivers.
The program has a front-end that allows you to input the modelines directly and apply them by pressing on a button.

The effect is much like using Soft-15kHz but both programs could be complemantary to each other as one  might work with hardware that other one would not.  I am sure this could make some people happy.

You can find the software along with instructions in English at Jeroni's website:
WinModelines
Note that even though the screenshots of the software in that page show Spanish text, the actual program when you download it from the English page has English text.

In this other webpage, Jeroni offers an excellent guide on choosing resolutions for different applications including emulators:
Modelines for HTPC - standard PAL/NTSC TV

I have not been able to test his software as I don't have a 15kHz monitor as of yet but subscribers to the Marcianitos emulation forum, report good success with it (you'll have to take my word for that last statement as the forum is in Spanish).

I hope this helps some people who have not been able to get their video cards to work with Soft-15kHz.  If you find it useful, please consider writting a few words to Jeroni to thank him.  This is my idea, not by any requests of his as he seems rather modest from what little communication I exchanged with him.

Please report back here with results.

Best Regards,

Manuel
