Perhpas this has been covered but...

Do Mame Roms work on Ultracade/Arcade Legends machines? There is very little info other than the company propaganda, but I did find a thread mentioning the Ultracade system was though to be based on Mame.
I actually own a Playchoice 10 with quite a few roms, and would like to put some of them on my Arcade Legends machine(it was a gift). I have the mame roms for the Playchoice cards that I own.
The upgrade kits kinda suck, you get 1 or 2 good games and a bunch of unknowns to me, and are way overpriced,
what are my options?

I got this from their FAQ:

Quote
11. Can I put my own PC-based games on UltraCade?

No. For highest game performance and for game security purposes, the UltraCade runs on a unique, proprietary
high-speed operating system (OS) that does not currently support either PC or MAME games at this time.

But I don't know if there is some hack or work-around.  However, I have my doubts about whether that can be discussed here.

Is it illegal to hack it once you already bought it? Seems like that should be perfectly legal.   Though, I am no attorney and really don't have a clue.

Ah.. but maybe it is if you plan to hack it for games that they are selling in game packs via CD.

Whatever you want to do with the machine and the software in the privacy of your own home is your business (illegal, gray, or whatever).   However, Ultracade is also sold for commercial use.
