Source of Used Arcade Games

It looks like Namco Fun Centers sells off some of their used games.  Some of them go as cheaply as $99, but it doesn't show you the condition they're in.  You can sort by area and other parameters.  And no, I don't work for them.

That is awesome!

Too bad the areas surrounding me are all in different categories.  =)

Not bad selection, really... they list a Beatmania not that far from me in the $800 range.  A Gauntlet Dark Legacy for $150...

We have bought a fair number of machines from Namco since there is a Namco owned arcade near us.

The games listed for sale on the website are generally machines currently in Namco owned locations.  Prices are set by corporate on a per-title basis, condition of any specific machine isn't usually factored in.

The pro's are that these are usually more recent titles than what we typically see and pricing is usually very fair, sometimes darn cheap.

The con's are that there is no price haggling since pricing is set by the higher ups and machine condition can vary from minty to trashed and you never know until you get there.

From my experience, games out of Namco arcades typically have pretty good cab and over all look nice.  I seem to run about 50/50 with monitors in them,  some are great, some are begging for caps and some have weak tubes (these machines ran 24/7 in some locations).   Namco doesn't dispatch techs to any of it's locations on a whim, so sometimes the games are sort of hacked by local management to keep them running.  In a nutshell, these games are usually a pretty good deal, expect some tinkering, keep an open mind about the monitor and enjoy!

Cool. If you contact the phone number listed by the games, will they tell you what condition it is in? If not, I don't know that I'm willing to spring for a cab sight-unseen. I may end up with a box full of kindling with half a marquee. "Uh yeah, that one was in a fire. As-is, sucker!"

I think that these games are at their distributors.  I'm pretty sure you can go there first and look at them.

I didn't say you had to buy sight-unseen.  But you probably aren't going to contact anybody and get pics emailed to you.

These machines are *usually* in a Namco owned arcade, on location and in-use,  just go check 'em out!

We just picked up a couple of redemtion pieces last week from Namco.  Backed the truck right up to the door of our local Namco owned arcade and pulled them right off the gameroom floor!

That's going to depend on how friendly the manager is at the location where the specific machine you are interested in is.   You know how these things can go, might get Mr. Super nice guy, might get Mr. Grumpy...    It's always worth a call,  worst that can happen is they will brush you off on the phone.     :)
