Where can I buy a Billabs monitor from (Oversees shipment)?
« on: December 01, 2007, 07:40:41 am »
Hello everyone,

[First Post]   ;D

I'm very interested in the BL27CB0P model, the 15~48 kHz Auto sync, max res of 1024x768 are simply mouth watering.

I looked almost everywhere and can't manage to find a distributor for Billabs that allows online purchases and is capable of shipping oversees, actually I couldn't manage to find any distributor other than the main one http://www.billabs.com, and they don't seem to have a payment gateway of any sort, sent them an email, but the half done website tells me not keep my hopes up.

Does anyone have any idea of a store that sells this specific model of the monitor, can ship oversees, and accepts online payment? I don't care even if it comes under the Wei-Ya name.

Thanks for your help.

P.s This Forum Rocks!

Billabs is merely an American distributor of Wei-ya monitors. You'd be more likely to find foreign distributors of Wei-ya monitors instead. Just go to Wei-ya's website (www.weiya.com.tw) and ask for the name of a distributor near you.

Ouch  :banghead: My brother lives in London, and I was hoping that he might grab one and bring it with him when he comes to visit! I actually live in Dubai, so my chances are even slimmer  :hissy:

I actually don't mind paying a bit (a lot) extra on shipping to here (Dubai), I think that it would be worth it, but I can't seem to find any decent distributor in Asia.

I already emailed wei ya, and hopefully they might be able to direct me to some distributors.

Fingers crossed

Okay, I just got a reply from Wei-Ya...

I don't know if it's good news or not...

Quote
Good day!
Many thanks for your e-mail.

Sorry, we don't have distributor in U.A.E.

Regarding the M2929DC-62, we have provide the model.
I like to check that do you need the 15K frequency?? If yes, we hope you can send the PCB to us for test. Because it's not suitable for all of 15K PCB.

I'm looking forward your reply.

Thanks & best regards,
Jasmine Liu

So like I thought, they don't have distributor in the UAE, but it seems that they might be able to ship one here, I'll try to confirm that.

This is for a Mame cab, so there is no PCB, but will that mean that some 15k games won't play properly? What do you guys know about this?

I'm living in Germany and I'm also looking for a multisync arcade monitor. So far, I have not been successful finding dealers (why did I move away from the U.S.?).

What monitor did you decide upon?

I asked about a European distributor by e-mail and never got a reply....

ArcadeBliss: I was at Suzo's headquarters a couple of days ago and talked about monitors etc. It is so that I can get anything (or about anything) that is listed in the Happ catalogue overhere. (Suzo and Happ Controls merged a couple of years ago).
There are regular shipments from Happ US to Suzo Netherlands every 2 weeks. The price would be a little below the price in dollars. So if it's listed for $200,-  it should be a little below €200,- (that's because of shipping etc. of course) Also, this is without VAT.

Hi. This is my first post on these forums but I didn't want to keep the following information all to myself.
I'm in contact with Angel (on behalf of Claudia) of Wei-Ya to get a quote for a suitable arcade monitor solution for my cab.
As you can see on their site they don't carry the M2929DC-62 (15-50khz) anymore and instead they have the M2929D-62. I contacted them and asked what my options are.

Here is my conversation with Wei-Ya:

Dear Sir/Madam, For a project of ours I'm looking for the 29" CRT monitor M2929DC-62. On the site however I can only find the M2929D-62(30-50khz). Do you still produce the M2929DC-62 (15-50khz)? I am very interested in ordering a 29" 1024x768 15-50khz CRT monitor. If you have a monitor like that what would shipping to The Netherlands cost? Hope to hear from you soon. Kind regards,

Hi Claudia/Angel,

Could you tell me how much shipping will be to Europe? It is very hard (impossible) to find these kind of monitors in Europe and your monitors get very good reviews. So I’m very interested.
Too bad you don’t have the M2929DC-62 anymore. That would have been the perfect monitor for our project.

Hope hearing from you soon.

Kind regards,

Hello,

Thanks for your reply.

As requested, please confirm what q'ty of demands you need. It'll be easy to quote the freight for your reference later.
Herewith, we'd like to suggest you to consider our M2929D-62 30-50K plus ACV-011 15-31K to work together. I assume it'll be solving your problems there. Before making this decision, I also wonder what 15K PCB you will connect with to be avoiding any un-matching problems in advance.

Your early reply will be highly appreciated and thanks in advance.

With kind regards,
Angel for

I've sent another mail to ask for shipping per 1, 4 and 10pcs to europe.
What do you guys think of the ACV-011 for 15Khz? (http://www.weiya.com.tw/products_detail.asp?le=english&fid=111&pid=118&top_fid= ) Yes, you'd have to manually switch it to get 15-31k but you get a range of 15-50khz. Just like the M2929DC-62 had. Or am I looking at the ACV the wrong way and is this only to "scale" old CGA PCBs to VGA monitors?

Any replies I get from Wei-ya I'll post here.

Hee Bitmind,

Welkom :)

back to english:
Arcadebliss:
I will keep it in mind. Mind you that there will be additional shipping costs in Europe as well to get it from "my" location to yours. These costs all depend on where you are located.
Let's just wait and see first what weiya has to offer in terms of shipping costs.

Any other 27-31" monitors that would be good for a MAME cab? preferably 1024x768 and 15kHz support. I have seen the Kortek (Betson?) brand pop up on this (I think) and other forums. The company that I work for can order at Kortek without any problems.
Any input?

I never realized that finding a good monitor for a mame project would be such a hassle. I was quite pleased with my 27" sony trinitron TV but now with this euro-dollar rate I realy want the authentic feeling with a touch of the 21st century.  ;D

Hi bitmind,

Regarding shipping to me, Europe is small enough so I could just pick it up from you  :D Judging from your native language, we are not far away anyway.

Regarding the Betson, I don't think they have a 15 - 48 kHz Monitor. Currently I have only been able to find one available from Billabs. Unfortunately, they do not ship outside of the US. I'm currently trying to arrange for my sis to pick one up and send it freight. I'll report here incase this pans out.

Arcadebliss: well it depends on where in Germany you are located. Germany is a big country.  ;)

Level42: scart/tv.. not realy an option anymore. That's what I have now and it's just not good enough.

I also got another reply from WeiYa.

Thanks for your e-mail.

So ordering in larger quantities already saves 50$ off of the total price.
What I just don't get is that Billabs CAN provide a 15-48kHz monitor and their source can't! It's very strange. Might be that Billabs has done some modifications on the monitors though.

I will reply to WeiYa later this day. Anyone else in for some monitors from WeiYa to save on shipping costs to Europe? :)

Did you check Happ's site if they have a monitor with simular capabilities you are looking for. Shipping over 300,- is way too much IMHO.

I can get Happ stuff at lower than it's price in dollars in Euro's shipped to Oud-Beijerland (near where I live, I can pick stuff up there).

Yeah. I did. (several times)
But I wouldn't know which monitor to get. My first choice was the WG D9400 but then I did some research and everybody is talking about how crap WG has gotten.
The price of that monitor is also still pretty steep at Happ ($636.55 excl. shipping and customs) whereas I've seen it at AG&E for $395 (excl. shipping and customs)

The 29" Makvision (tri-mode) also looks nice. but limited to 640x480.
imho the max res should be at least 800x600 (I might want to play some guitar hero 3 on it as well ;) )

In short: I'm looking for something (15-40kHz, 29"-31", flat) which (as usual) is not easily available in Europe. It's starting to look like the quest for the holy grail.

First I'll ask WeiYa how much shipping to Shanghai will be. The company I work for has an office there. Might be cheaper to ship it from there to our office here. If that's a no-go and the 10+ pcs shipping will not be significantly cheaper I think I might give up and take the easy way out by ordering a Makvision or D9400. The Sony TV is realy starting to annoy me. ;)

There's a Hantarex 21" on marktplaats. I know the seller. But I think it's VGA only....

[Edit] Forget it , it's 800x600 only.

and 21" ;)

Would suck in my cab. It is waaaay to big to just house a 21"
Plus even my Windows PC screens are bigger. ;) 27" and 30" Dell tft's. (yes, I had to brag a little there. sorry. In my defense I've only gotten them for a few weeks now.  ;D )

They might be using a different supplier. There are a number of other Taiwan suppliers and some Korean. The monitor I have in the cabinet in my workshop is a 15-48 and is made by YTE.

I have met Claudia a couple of times, she is rather nice...

So Andy, your based in Europe. When will you start offering multisync arcade monitors to satisfy us deprived souls here in Europe?

Hmmm let me see,

hantarex: does not have digital multisync monitors
pentranic: the experts here did not put this company on the "quality built" list  ::)
kortek: please point me to a european distributor that sells the Kortek KT-2914
wei ya: the same deal as the kortek

After my intensive search and the fact that this thread exist, I think it is a grimm situation for those living in europe.

Who did you speak to? Do you have specs and/or a part number for the digi quad sync?

pentranic can also supply a tri sync digital,a tri sync lcd and replacement chassis like alva amusements, finally in the U.K we have some support :)
If you want to know more just email for specs as their website has not been updated in some time
www.pentranic.co.uk
I know the quad supports 15/25/31 and 38khz frequency, tube sizes were mentioned although 25" and 27" seem to be a problem.
the controls are accessed via an on screen menu
