Mapping zincs inputs to joypad?
« on: November 26, 2007, 11:41:03 pm »
I haven't used zinc in awhile but I was getting around to getting it set up on my new cab which uses gpwiz49s for the control interfaces and hence the controls are seen as gamepads in windows.

I want to map my controls in zinc to reflect this but I can't figure out how to do it globally.  I know how to do it on a game by game basis using zincgui but I would like to do them all at once if possible.
It seems like I did this before but I can't remember how.   I know HowardCasto has a program that remaps the controls for zinc but it doesn't work when using gamepads.

Thanks

I ran into the exact same thing using an Ultrastik...  And unfortunately I ended up having to just edit each games config manually...   :badmood:

there is a zinc controller plugin from a guy named winter blast.

i'm using the version of zinc packaged for use with gameex... that gets downloaded in the set up utility in the 'download emulators' tool.  it has a ZincFE.exe wrapper, and winterblast's plugin.

im using U360s.

zinc works beautifully with them, in all games i have played.

i tried setting this up (in the past) manually and i was having problems with the non-fighter type games not working properly ... im not sure if its the ZincFE or (probably this...) a newer version of the Winterblast plugin ... but now, "it just works."

so yeah... you can just use this plugin afaik.

Go to this thread

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=73330.msg761096#msg761096

Download this file (it includes winterblast's 1.6 plugin).

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=73330.0;attach=89446

It includes controller ini files to map Zinc joystick buttons o keyboard codes (for mame cabs).  You can easily edit the ini files in the /zinc/ini directory to reflect gamepad buttons rather than mame cab keyboard codes.  You still have to do it on a game-by-game basis though, as Zinc uses different buttons for different games.

Check out my completed projects!

Thanks for the info guys.  I was able to remap the controls globally with aldo's zinc frontend.
