Now someone needs to come up with the joystick part (including that funky restrictor) for a complete solution.

The joystick part is a standard Happ stick that is still available.

Including the restrictor ?

Good news is that encryptor seems to have that piece of the puzzle worked out.

That I'm not sure of... I'd use a broken Nintendo joystick as a restrictor because that's how I roll.

Does that include the trigger switch?

Here's a recent ebay auction for an "NOS" handle.

link

$45 sounds like a bargain to me.  I'd take one of each color.

That isn't even close to the usual price.  They're spendy but nothing like $250+.

Personally I like the Satan's Hollow handles much better, but then again, it's a better game too.   ;D

You have to remember that is for 2 NOS handles, so that's only $125 each.

Duh, I looked too fast, though that was a pic of two halves.  Still a bit high based on what I've seen locally but everyone's area differs.  I paid WAY less than that for my NOS Satan's Hollow handles.

Ah yea, makes more sense now. I misread the first post as 'simple' happ joystick...instead he said 'standard'. Then posted this and though it may be standard it didn't seem "simple" in terms of sticks in general.

So it's looking like about $122 for the happ stick...plus $45 for the replica handle.
$167 plus shipping from 2 places...So about $200 grand total roughly to do her up right from scratch. Sweet.

Still $100 cheaper than the repro 720 stick!  :o

If you can locate a used stick it will be much cheaper than that.  These sticks are ---smurfing--- tanks so you're not going to find a broken one.  They aren't made by Nintendo.

This is cool.... That's only just above the figure that it would have cost me to knock them out of the molds.  I'm still on sourcing of reasonable cost materials. So if these go back on sale then you guys are all set and I can stop worrying about it.  ;D

I suspect there's room in this field for multiple sources. I want someone to put out a set in purple!

He wants the hot pink one to use on his car's shifter rod.  He's going to light it, too.

I know the centering grommet from the Happ stick above fits the Tron stick beautifully. So now you can have a new centering grommet and a new 4 way restrictor and almost have a new Tron stick or make one from a Xenephobe stick.

I don't think the Happ stick above will fit Encryptor's restrictor repro.  They're made to fit in the older base assemblies made by Midway.  You'll have to find a used one.  Luckily, (as mentioned above) they're built tough, so there's nothing wrong with a used one.  Plus, used is a ton cheaper.

*edit-  Just went and had a look at the diagram on the Happ site.  They might fit after all.
