Werewolves, vampires, and zombies...
« on: November 09, 2007, 02:20:32 pm »
I saw this:

http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech-gadget/in-case-of-zombies-break-glass

...and a few days later, this:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=202668.msg2158872;topicseen

...I didn't paste images directly cause' some folks don't take to kindly to that and I wouldn't want anyone to have to suffer through a goatse.

Anyway, after seeing the two of those, I decided I had to build something along those lines for the game room.

I just decided to expand beyond JUST zombies and make something that hit upon more than just the undead.

At this point, I've got a 24 in. x 30 in. shadowbox and a whole gaggle o' goodies to mount in there.

I've made little decal for the thing that illustrates what the contents are going to be.

I don't know if this is of interest to anyone but it seemed like a fun project to me...

Here's the decal in jpg form.  I'll be using it scaled down to about 4x5.

...and a link to a higher-rez, larger image should you want to suffer through the feeble text I wrote.

That's a pretty cool writeup you have. Thanks for the link BTW to the second project. I am totally making one of those. FYI, he posts the stencil and instruction card graphics on one of the last pages.

Yeah, I saw that he had some stuff there in terms of graphics.  I just didn't feel right copying the idea AND the graphics.  ;)

Besides, it gives me an opportunity to continue making feeble attempts at art.  :)

All the really cool display cases in the world wont help when the zombies come.  I suggest having at least 55 zombie plans and fortifying your home in case of outbreak.  If FEMA is any indication our government will not be prepared to handle a outbreak (just look at the second resident evil movie the cops thought the zombies were crazy people).

Though i do like that riot shield.

I do have 55 plans actually.  However, I'll need to get out of the game room to implement them...hence the kit.  ;)

Well, the city of Lansing is prepared: http://hub.lsj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071024/NOISE05/710240310

"People can feel confident, if zombies start invading, we'll know how to close the streets. We can get chainsaws too," said Lansing Police Lt. Bruce Ferguson.

Q. If your friend gets bitten, should you just kill them right away?
A. It depends on how much you like them and if they’re still useful until they die and turn. You probably want to take them out ASAP or send them on a dangerous mission so that way you’re not a murderer; you’re just letting them go first.

Q. How long before you can come out of hiding after a zombie attack?
A. It’s gonna be a long time. You better find a quiet spot in the Arctic and make your compound. Choose your group well. Unlike movies, the A-hole doesn’t always die.

Q. If you’re bitten, do you just kill yourself?
A. Do yourself a service or depending on your beliefs, just handcuff yourself to a radiator.

Q. What are the signs you’ve been infected?
A. A bite is a red flag. Despite what you see on Fox News, you can’t get the virus from a toilet seat or the air. You could get it from an open-mouthed kiss, but if you’re kissing a zombie, you have bigger problems.

Q. If you have you a lot of firepower, will you survive?
A. We have firepower but it’s a question of having enough. It has always solved our problems. We won Vietnam, we are winning now overseas (in Iraq) and it really helped against Katrina.

I love this.

LOVE that article.

If you haven't read 'The Walking Dead' ongoing comic, you should.  I think it's on like issue #44 now.  There's a graphic novel that collects the first ten issues I think.  I was lucky that I had a friend who let me borrow the first 42 issues.  Anyway, it does what no zombie movie has ever been able to, it gets past that initial attack, those initial days and weeks, and explores a lot of the what if scenarios...you know for when zombies attack.  Cause' that's always happenin'.  :)

All the really awesome showcases on the planet probably won't help when the zombies come.  I recommend having at least 55 zombie programs and boosting your home in situation of episode.  If FEMA is any clue our authorities will not be ready to deal with a episode (just look at the second person wicked film the officers imagined the zombies were insane people).

As far as spambots go, youngjohn12 is the most entertaining variety I've seen.  It's like an automated game of Mad Libs.
