Our Game-Hall
« on: April 13, 2006, 05:14:02 am »
It all started with a Mame-Cab. After I it was finished, a friend of mine wanted to have one, too (I've been hanging around at several machines with him when we were young). Instead he bought a generic cab with Moon Patrol PCB inside. And after that he bought two more :)

Dirk has a little company and rented a little hall for his stuff (tools, machines, tires, etc.). The three cabs found a nice place in that hall.

Then I picked up two messy generic cabs (Quadro with 25" self-rotating monitor) and made one working cab.

I wasn't allowed (who said "You must marry!" :D) to have it at home in addition to my Mame-Cab so Dirk asked me if I would like to put it inside his hall and gave me a key.

Since then we have been rather busy. We mainly own generic cabs and PCBs but the number of dedicated cabs keeps growing (a centipede is about to join the other machines). We still have a lot of work to do (and parts to find/buy). Two Pins complete our little collection.....oh, and one Pool Table ;)

here we are: www.thludwig.de

Sorry, all in German for now but I think the pictures speak for themselves :)

I will make english versions in the future.

Please excuse my english, any comments about enhancing the language are welcome :D

PS: Dirk installs alarm systems and the hall is wired, too ;)

You mean the one with the blue marquee "Fun by Video"?

It's a simple generic case with a Time Pilot-PCB

I guess I should take pictures with the games running ;)

Where in Germany are you?  I thought I saw a reference to Worms.  I was in Mannheim for 3 years and married a girl from Maxdorf.

Hi.

So your presence in Germany was a big success :)

I work in Mannheim (sitting there right now) but I live a little more south in Neustadt an der Weinstra

Since you asked, on the our game hall page:

"I know from the school. But instead of going home after school we used to visit the local snack bars or other locations that had one thing together: there was a videogame. We had contact to calsscs like Donkey Kong, Gyruss, Pengo, Defender"

sounds better as:

"I know him from school. But instead of going home after school, we used to visit the local snack bars or other locations that had one thing in common: there was a videogame. We had contact with classics like Donkey Kong, Gyruss, Pengo, Defender"

Little things, but it flows better that way.

@nightgod: thanks a lot for your hints. That's exactly the information I've expected !!! :)

@Keyser_Soze : that's a really good question. I'd like to know that, too so I can go there and hit that bas**** right into his face  for what he did :badmood:

No, I'm really not that violent but who the hell can add such ugly buttons to such a beautiful machine  ???

When I bought the cab it was already ripped. I wouldn't have done that in a thousand years. And the family I bought it from also didn't know where it came from.

But I already have two similiar sticks with red barrels. I'm just looking for a way to hide the big gap between the sticks and the panel holes.

It looks like you could get a permit, hang a sign our front, and open for business.

I'm not really sure what you mean but if you think we should open the hall for the people, you have no idea how dumb German's law is. You can view a list of the games and what age yuo are allowed to play....NO game under 12!!! http://www.automaten-selbstkontrolle.de/ask-alt.pdf   (zw

Hi again.

I wanted to show two new "members" in our arcade hall:

Centuri Challenger from 1981

http://www.thludwig.de/pics/arcade/challenger_1.jpg

Very good condition (except those nasty brown spots from the cigarettes) and the gameply is surprisingly good 8)

Zaccaria Vanguard

http://www.thludwig.de/pics/arcade/vanguard_1.jpg

This one dropped from about 2m height when we brought it down from a barn  The marquee was missing (only a few parts inside the cab). Due to the drop the cab is broken and the monitor had a linearity issue that we could fix on saturday

If someone has such a marquee (it's a piece of plexi bent on the upper and the lower side) or just a picture of it so I can redraw, please PM me

AND: the Robotron is back in business  ;D

I wasn't allowed (who said "You must marry!" :D)

That's exactly why I warned my girlfriend: "If we're going to marry and buy a house, there's going to be a game room".  I'm going to whip up a contract too if I ever decide to take the plunge.

But that's a fine looking gameroom! Love it.  I'm envious.

Hey Luigi !

Yeah, I had seen your site before, and was REALLY impressed !!! I wish I had a place like that  :applaud: :applaud: Maybe I could visit you some day ?

Question: I see on one of the pictures the sign of the Retrogames e.V. (http://www.retrogames.info/node) from Karlsruhe. Looks like you have contacts there ?

I have sent them a mail, because I know they have an original NSM/Namco Puckman cab (http://www.retrogames.info/arcade/show/423), and I''d LOVE to see some pictures of the inside, especialy the PCB !!!!!!

However, I think they must have thought the mail was from some nut, because of my German, cause I never got a reply.....

You would do me a really big favor if you could pass on my request !
