Warp Factor 8,023...
« on: November 08, 2007, 07:46:35 pm »
The 'final' cast member for the new 'Star Trek' movie has been cast.

Bruce Greenwood will be playing 'Christopher Pike'.

Just in case you didn't know, (or don't care...which would make me sad inside), the other cast members so far are:

Chris Pine - James Kirk
Zachary Quinto - Spock
Leonard Nimoy - Spock
Karl Urban - Leonard 'Bones' McCoy
Simon Pegg - Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott
John Cho - Hikaru Sulu
Anton Yelchin - Pavel Chekov
Zoe Baldana - Uhura
Eric Bana - 'Nero'...the bad guy...

Personally, I'm anxious to see the original cast reimagined.  I'm the odd man out amongst most folks I know, in that I like the original series the best.  :)

It's either going to spectacularly suck or completely blow everything else out of the water, I think.  :)

It's got 'Shaun Of The Dead,' one of the guys from the 'Lord Of The Rings' trilogy, AND one of the guys from 'Harold And Kumar...'.  :)

You're ok in my book.  TOS (the original series) is the best of tv series.

I'm torn about this new movie - re-imagination - of this part of the Trek universe.  I agree, it's either going to be spectacular, or a spectacular travesty. :dunno

It's a bit scary to see the comedy actors in that cast though. Although I have to admit I always saw TOS as a bit of a comedy show too.

...and now this.

HUH?!?

"Winona Ryder Joins 'Star Trek'"

...the only information from the article of import: ;)

"Paramount Pictures and director JJ Abrams have set Ryder to play the Vulcan mother of a young Spock (Zachary Quinto)."

I thought that Spock's mother was a human...hence the half human thing.  I think somethin' might be a little mixed up.

:)

NICE.  That's good stuff.  :)

That kind of casting gives the whole "mind meld" thing a much more sinister bent don't you think...  :o

I think I'd rather see a Trek film from the 'Enterprise' crew before rehashing and redoing TOS...maybe that's just me.
