Photoplay 2000, Tatung monitor Help needed
« on: November 06, 2007, 12:19:44 pm »
Hi, has anybody seen one of these? All I know is has Tatung T-009 on the board, but I can not find any info anywhere on the Web, let alone a cct diagram to try and repair it. I have no picture at all :( it was in a Photoplay 2000 touch screen quiz machine and is a SVGA monotor. Any ideas? Cheers in advance.

Looks like a Tatung model VS-14428 (also known as VT-1440S and Merit Type 66) with the main board mounted in that metal box.

Suggest contacting www.tatungusa.com for more information. They no longer show any CRT monitors on their website, but they still service (and have parts/manuals for) their older products.

Merit Industries (now known as Merit Games) has some free schematics on their tech support section under the FAQ's and tech info.

I would suggest you email pictures of your monitor to www.tatungusa.com

Thanks Grantspain.

Ken, I have just sent pic's to Tatung. Thanks guys.

PS: just managed to get hold of all the manuals for the machine, but cct diagram still has no mention of model and it's not very readable. Also is there any way of testing the HT transformer? as there is no HV going to the tube.

It could possibly be a 794V as shown on this site, or a VT1440S as mentioned by Ken:

It's a shame bonfire night has just passed, as the Photoplay would be going on top of it! lol.

I have decided not to spend any more time and effort on this hunk of crap and just managed to purchase a slightly faulty JPM Who wants to be a millionaire machine (pictured below), with The Weakest Link and other games for bargain price of £32. ;D

Not sure if it’s worth trying to convert the PP2000 into a Mame machine or just Ebay it for the price of 2-3 boxes of cigs.
