Neo-Geo and button colors
« on: November 04, 2007, 02:01:26 pm »
Quick question here: I'm using the LEDwiz plugin for Mala and the colors.ini file to light up my buttons to match the actual arcade colors.  It seems that the player two colors are White, Yellow, Green, Red instead of Red, Yellow, Green, Blue (like Player one's).

I'm just curious to know if that was how the buttons were colored on Neo-Geo machines or there's a mistake with colors.ini.  I always thought the colors matched for both players.

I think it is the colors.ini file that is messed up.  I have noticed the same problem before but I didn't really care to much.  I think I remember seeing a two player game where player one and two had different arrangements, but I might be crazy.

You would have to check with the creators of the colors.ini file.

Yeah, I'll fix the file one day but I have more pressing issues to work out on the cab.

I'm the creator of colors.ini and I used a program I wrote to shows Mr Do's CP collection one by one and I copy the button colors from it. There are mistakes as I copied them exactly so if the panel has a button replaced or wrong color the same problem will be in colors.ini.

I've been trying to find someone who wants to keep colors.ini up to date but have yet to find anyone. It's funny you posted this just now as I've posted the program on the GameEx forums to see if anyone wants to continue on the project over there. I've tried asking before on here but noone piped up willing to help.

PM me if your interested in getting the program and updating the file (I won't hold my breath though) ;)

I can work on it in small bursts but I wouldn't mind helping out.  I've been editing colors.ini manually but I'll shoot you a PM this week.

PimpDaddyStu over at the GameEx forums said he might take a look also. I'm happy to take people's work and combine them into one file. But I really need people to note which ROMs they have updated.

Anyway here is a screenshot of the program, and I think you can see in this picture where the errors come from. I honestly didn't know at the time that the buttons on the CP's had been replaced. I just thought some of the NeoGeo games used different colors ;)
