Help !! My Hantarex monitor just stopped working !
« on: November 02, 2007, 04:20:51 pm »
Hi all,

I have an MTC 9000 Hantarex Monitor in my cab and it's powered by the Hantarex US 250 power supply.

Today I had the cab on and it was playing perfect and I went away for a bit - when I came back the monitor was dead !!

I checked the voltage coming up to the monitor and It 230 V.

I'm a bit confused as the MTC 9000 Manual shows the power cables as 128VAC and 220 VAC:

On the Power Supply Manual it says 135 Vdc and Degauss:

So - I'm not even sure it's a power issue - and I have no idea where to start.

The monitor was working great and the color looked great today - so any help would be much appreciated !!

Thanks !

Martin.

mtc9000 used 220v for the degauss circuit and 120v for the main monitor power supply circuit.
do you get game sounds?

Hi there,

It's used as a MAME Cabinet, and the PC that runs it is fine (I can VNC into it and it's perfect).

So it seems to be purely the monitor - unless the ArcadeVGA card has stopped working for some reason. Should I see some sort of life in the Monitor if it's getting power ?

Should I have 220v and 120v readings at point 13 on the diagram below (Sorry if this is basic stuff I should know), as I'm only getting a 230V reading ?

Also - I tested it at point CD on the power supply, and it gives the same readings as CC on the monitor board, so it's not a problem with the cable between the 2.

So - if point CD on the Power Supply only reeads 230V and 0V does this point to a power supply issue (Once again, sorry for all the questions...)?

you have two sets of wire's,one pair should read 220v ac and the other pair should read 120v(or thereabouts)
if you don't have 120v on the left two wires then your psu has a problem
be careful when checking those psu's as they hold one hell of a charge on the caps for a long time

OK - Will do.

I may remove the monitor to give it a once over also.

Has it got dangerous voltages too ? It looks pretty exposed at the back.....

has it got dangerous voltages-YES
depending the size tube you could have anything upto 33000 volts ht,1000volts focus and some right nasty voltages in the monitor power supply circuit
this is what i would do-
using a multimeter check the input voltages on the monitor, check both input wire pairs
220 volts degauss circuit
120 volts monitor power supply voltage
then check the same at the power supply
if either/or are missing first check fuses on the power supply, then check for bad solder joints on the power supply
i have seen these power supplies come up often on ebay
