Mame running slow on above requirement computer
« on: November 01, 2007, 03:47:51 am »
ok I'm making a mame cabniet and having troubles with my computer.
its a 2.8Ghz prosessor with onboard graphics and 512 ram and i just installed xp on it last night and when i tryed to play the lastest mame even pacman was running at about 80%.
THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING SOMEBODY HELP PLEASE =(
I narrowed it down to a few choices that could be the problem, can you guy use your expertese to help me?

- The onboard graphics card uses to much prosessor power and slows it?
- Lack of sp2 makes it slow?
- Drivers need updating?
- Some unknown setting in mame makes it use to much cycles?

Can you please help because I don't want to but a new video card if its not the problem.

I just tried Pacman on Mame .120 on a 3.2 Ghz P4 that has onboard video and it ran 100% no problem.  Have you monkeyed with the mame.ini file any?  Is your computer running slowly with other apps?  Why don't you try a pre-video-rewrite version of Mame and see what you get?  Say Mame version .105 or less.
