PDA in cab?
« on: May 06, 2003, 06:54:45 pm »
I've got a Casio Windows CE full-color PDA lying around that I don't use anymore, and got to wondering:  Wouldn't it be great to install this sucker on your cp and use it thru a fe as a game selector/config touch screen?

Anyone have any idea if this may be the slightest bit workable?  It'd be easier than using joys and shift buttons...and pretty cool looking, I might add...
Now witness the power of this FULLY OPERATIONAL Mame machine!

Well, they have VNC for Windows CE - you might be able to remotely takeover your PC in the cab with the PDA - but you'd be seeing the samething on your PDA as you would on your cab's monitor :).  I'm also not sure of the benefit of selecting games and that on such a tiny screen.

put mame on your PDA. I bet you'll use it then! (maybe just in the bathroom, but still...)

I'll agree that it could be really cool looking, but I can't imagine it being easier, or even remotely as functional as a big screen and substantial controls.

I think if you could somehow manage to wire an entire CP worth of controls to the PDA's buttons and just had the PDA's screen shining in a nice little square smack in the middle of the panel and used it as a most awesome Gameboy, it would be the coolest thing ever. Due to it's size you could call it the Game......MAN.

I considered trying to hack one into one of those old toy lcd donkey kong hand helds from when I was a kid.

I thought it would be SWEET to have a ton of games on one of those...

I can hook it up on the fron through a serial cable...but hope someday to get around making an infrared connection...

Seems like a cool idea. I'm sure there's an easier way but the first thing I thought of was creating a games menu on the PDA and using the IR in the PDA to send a command to girder (IR app) on the PC to launch a game.

Well this is my first post but i just had the BEST idea for the PDA

Use it to display the game controlls

Like streetfighter moves etc

should be a way to open up files on the PDA from the PC  8)

Its a pretty good idea i say :)

Altho if i had a pda id use it for a c64 poclet pc :D
