I always thought the girders had a pink'ish hue to them, at least moreso than red. If I play DK in Mame32, or earlier builds, the girders are red (it doesn't look right to me

). But it runs better. The only problem, is that sound reproduction isn't 100%, given the samples that I'm using. The "mario running" sound is supposed to vary in note and pitch every few steps, and for whatever reason, in MAME32, it's the same "note" every time he takes a step. Kind of disappointing. When I play DK in later versions, like mame .119 or .120, the colors look more correct to me (pink'ish girders), but it doesn't run as well.
Now...All of the above applies to when I play on an LCD monitor.
In building my cocktail cabinet, I tested out MAME32 for the first time tonight, on my CRT computer monitor (19"). Low and behold, the colors look correct! So I'm wondering if maybe it's moreso an issue with my LCD monitor in conjunction with MAME32 (or whatever build I'm using at the time) than the actual software. Just a thought!
