Horz width wiggle on top part of 20EZV screen
« on: October 18, 2007, 10:44:39 pm »
I'm converting a Playchoice cab to a Punch-Out!! cab.  The lower monitor is a 20EZ and it has a weird squiggle in the picture in the upper lines of the screen.  This extends all the way across the screen.  Those few lines are not lined up vertically with all the others.  It's just that one section of the screen that does this.  It's also very stable, meaning the wiggle doesn't move up and down the screen, or even jitter.  While the first picture has a game board with lower monitor issues, it does the same thing when a different board is installed (it also has issues, but upper monitor issues).

Is this just a cap issue that will be fixed with a normal cap kit?  Do I need to order something else to fix this while I am getting the cap kit?

Thanks,
Rick

i am sure playchoice 10 uses an inverted video signal whereas the punchout looks like a standard video signal-if this is the case then your picture will be the wrong colours and the line you see is a sync tear
someone with a ez chassis should jump in here and give more advice but i believe all you need to do is bypass the ez inverter board

Both Punchout and Playchoice use inverted video signals.  Looks like you have your plugged into the wrong side of the inverter like grantspain said.  I don't know if it will solve the problem though.

Hi,

Thanks for the ideas.  I didn't change whether or not the signal was inverted from what the PC10 used.  I'm highly sure it's right, though.  The top pic is of wrong colors (on that board set), but the bottom pic has correct colors (on a different board set).  Since the one set works correctly, I'm assuming that it's correct (unless that board is putting out inverted video, and then being 'incorrectly' inverted by the monitor back to correct).  Either way, both boards create this same squiggle in the pic, making me think that it's something to do with the monitor...

Thanks,
Rick
