Monitor crackling help needed
« on: October 18, 2007, 06:38:54 pm »
just recently my montior has been making this noisy (louder than the game volume) crackling sound. previously it had a little wave in the screen but worked fine. wondering if its doing damage if i have it on like this and how can i fix it? its a 29" monitor in a new astrocity can get a model later if that will help. also the monitor board look really dirty if that maybe contributing to it? any suggestion help be great as i dont wanna play it like this as it seems bad

you have moisture under and around  the ht anode cap, there are some threads here to explain this problem-you need to read them before you attempt the fix

You are going to want to fix the problem ASAP.  It is going to require you discharging the monitor.  Make sure you read up on it before doing it as we are talking about 15,000-20,000 volts.   Once discharged,  you will need to remove the anode from the anode hole (the suction cup thing) and clean any moisture you encounter.  There is also a spray you can use to prevent future moisture, etc.

Again... MAKE SURE YOU READ HOW TO PROPERLY DISCHARGE YOUR MONITOR ELSE YOU RUN THE RISK OF HURTING YOURSELF...AND EVEN DEATH (no BS).

Do not operate the game with the monitor sparking like that.
