Hantarex 33" problem
« on: October 13, 2007, 04:47:31 am »
This problem is with a Hantarex MTC9110 33" monitor. The problem is the monitor goes on and I see a picture then after a minute it would shut down. The power supply to the chassis is reading about 170v. I don't see/hear any flyback noises/burns. What is the +B voltage suppose to be on this chassis? Also a location of the +B touch point would also be gladly appreciated.

i would start by checking for bad solder connections and installing some nice new electrolitic capacitors

I've checked all the electrolytic capacitors and replaced a few iffy ones but the monitor is still giving the same problem, solder joints all seem to be intact.

concentrate on the power supply section around tr20,change all the electrolitics in that circuit, meter the transistors, check the wires to the large resistor and its resistance value
other things to check are c36 which is a high voltage polypropylene capacitor,tr15 which is the vertical deflection transistor,c205 on the neck,c45,c57 near the flyback
it could even be a problem with the flyback but i don't think so
you can download a free schem from randy fromms site to help you id the parts and the circuit
you can only test caps with a cap tester, not by looking at them
check your b+ 130v when you first fire it up to see what the level is,not after it cuts out as there is no load on the circuit
be careful of the voltages
when you do get the picture is it good or do you have strange problems?

the monitor stays on for 20-30secs but during that time, the picture is perfect.

did you say your input ac voltage is 170 ??? should be 120v at the ac input
