My home arcade...finally set up!
« on: October 13, 2007, 01:32:03 am »
Moving has been a rather slow process. We closed on this house the first week of August and we just moved in a week ago today. We're finally getting settled and I figured I'd share a the part of my home that's kind of unique...my home arcade.

Here are some pics and even a shaky video clip: http://stupidgamer.com/2007/10/12/the-arcade-is-looking-good/

Oh, and yeah, I made the arcade sign in the first pic using some letters from a craft store, some spray paint, and some adhesive. It glows really well with the black light in person, but it gets washed out in the pics.

Very nice! At first I didn't get the green thing, but it kind of grew on me. Are you using a tube florescent light, if so where did you get the colored tubes?

Looks great Jeff! enjoyed the vid.

It's amazing..you have all the games I hope to have in my home arcade someday..seriously

My Ms Pac cab will be a reality shortly but I doubt I'll ever find a Candy Cab up here..or the Jurassic Pin.
Half the fun is hunting them down though. :)

Yeah, the hunt is definitely a fun process. I really, really, really, lucked out on the Ms. Pac-Man. If you remember, I was trying VERY hard to find one. I found this one on Kijiji (ebay's Craigslist that nobody ever uses) when an old lady posted it on there after seeing a news report about ebay's new service. So far it's been the only cab to show up locally, and it is in PERFECT shape outside of a few minor scratches and scuffs.

The candy cab was also luck. There's a guy here in Utah that imports them and has literally stacks of them in his warehouse. I think he had around 50 or so when I was down there...all with amazing monitors.

There is a guy here who is selling one (and there are some VS candy's that keep showing up at auction) ... all you have to do is jump in the truck and drive 20 hours each way!

Jeff -- room looks great !

We ended up buying in Centerville, actually. I guess my kids won't need to ride their bike to Hansen's card shop like I did to enjoy arcades. Man...good times.

Very Nice.. I'm jealous too, good job!

How do you find those stools ? I saw some and thought they might work for the future game room.

Ah, you already answered my question -- You're in centerville.  I'm in spanish fork.  The new place looks good, glad to see another utah'n around.  Let me know if you find someone locally that's reliable for getting games -- I've had some bad luck with a couple of people.  I want to get my hands on a strider machine someday.  Among other things.  =)

I picked the stools up at Target. They're pretty nice, especially for playing the candy cab.

slycrel, I used to live in Springville, so I know the Spanish Fork area quite well. In fact, I bought that candy cab from a guy down in Woodland Hills. He had quite a few of them, actually. He also had tons of MVS carts, PCBs, other cabinets, and arcade parts. Let me know if you want some contact info, he's just 5-10 minutes from where you live. Heh, I used to work for Nature's Sunshine, I'm sure you've heard of them...

Yeah, I know a couple of people who work at nature's sunshine actually.  =)

I'm not particularly interested in a new cab at the moment (my wife would kill me) but I do want to do another.  Once I start looking again I'll shoot you a PM.  Thanks.  =)
