I didn't see your post before I went at it with the desolderer, after removing the capacitor I found that it doesn't have a 'negative' marking. Bi-polar. I put it back in.
What could be on the board that needs to warm up before the display rights itself and the squeal goes away? I've been aiming the heat gun right near those caps -- must be something in the vicinity. I can post a pic of the chasis if necessary.
(Detail on the problem: When turned on from cold there is a high-pitched squeal coming from the monitor, not really bad but not normal. The display shows a 2" white bar near the bottom of the screen, jumping up and down slightly. As it warms up, the display begins to fill the screen, then it just looks like it is out of sync. Then all the sudden it rights itself, looks great, and stays that way.)
