Bogus ebay buyer tried to get me to send him my auction items
« on: October 04, 2007, 06:00:10 pm »
So you guys might have seen in my other post im selling my ps2 on ebay.
The auction ended yesterday and i get an email from what appeared to be ebay saying there was an Administrative Bid Cancellation because the buyers account was compromised by a third party.
( I lator found out this was a fake email)

Then I get another fake ebay email saying the eBay Item Listing was Restored Successfully.  ya right sure it was.

Then comes the best emails form the"buyer"  heres the first one

Hello have no worry about the message from ebay i owned the account is just that the account was access by the third party and i contact ebay concerning this so i ask them to get the account restore since i find that i can't log in anymore that why you have receive that kind of message so am using this opportunity to inform you that everything is now ok and you will be contact by eBay concerning this we can continue our
transaction.
thanks.
Kelvin Morgan

then this one

Hi Mate,
I would like to inform you that the payment has now been sent and the money has been deducted from my account, plz get back to me as soon as you are notified from paypal. I want the item to be shipped asap and i will like to have the tracking number. Also i want you to send the shipment tracking number to paypal customer care ( removed fake link  ;) ) , and once they verify the shipment they will credit your
account.Hope to read from you asap
Here is the shipping address
Name: John Blessing
Address: No42 Babalola Obisesan Off Ososami Road Oke Ado
City: Ibadan
State: Oyo State
ZipCode: 23402
Country: Nigeria
Tel: +2348077836109
I want the item to be shipped Via USPS Global Mail Express Service. EMS, or Fedex for security reasons, paypal will have to verify the shipment of the item before they can get the money credited to your account, because some sellers will receive money and they will not ship out the item, which i have also fallen a victim, so try and get the item shipped immediately and email them the shipment tracking
number.

What a dumass. Did he really think anyone with half a brain would fall for this ? He couldn't have sent me a paypal payment beings i dont have an account with them and said in the auction listings that i only take money orders.  If i did have a paypal account i would withdrawl the funds befor i shipped anything. Then he thinks im going to send the goods off on a boat to nigera. What a --cream-filled twinkie-- !

This is one scam i  heard to much of, I thought they usually just tried to get your money and run, Not have you send your items to them.  Im just glad i was smart enough to see that this was a scam.  I used ebays live chat and spoke with a security rep. and turned his  thieving  ass in.

The moral of the story is that if a e mail/message dosnt show up in your my ebay pages its bogus.

I just thought iwould share this incase anyone else gets a tard like this trying to hijack there auction.

I had my ebay acct hijacked back right when the xbox360's came out....sucker listed 20 brand new xbox360's direct from HongKong at $100 below MSRP with immediate shipping.  Luckily, I was on the ball (got the email stating my password had changed) and I contacted ebay immediately.  They pulled the auctions and nobody lost any $$ on any of the auctions....

He could have.  I'm not saying it isn't a scam, but you can send a payment to any email address you like, whether it's registered or not.  If he is telling the truth, then if you register with Paypal using the same email address, your money will be waiting for you.

But then he wouldn't know your email address unless you gave it to him or if he does an Ebay user informaiton request, which you would have been notified of.

I didn't know that was possible. Makes you wonder how much money PayPal has sitting in "non-existent" accounts.

Thats another scam they paypal you and as soon as you give up the tracking number they take back the money.

saint, I thought the admin bid cancel from ebay might be real myself.  Ebay says that since it wasn't in the messages area on my myebay page it was not sent by them.

I didnt know you were bidding it has been relisted

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290167441911

I was going to email all the legit bidders and tell them it was relisted but ebay took the auction page down and i had no access to there info.
