Inlaws
« on: September 25, 2007, 09:02:48 am »
Inlaws and around 6 other family members come today....serenity now serenity now. Nothing better than showing my arcade collection to a bunch of people that refer to it as "a midlife crisis". By the end of the week I'll have thought really really hard about the cyanide capsule route or a hotel room :)

I've known people like that... no matter WHAT you do they'll say "midlife crisis".  It's their way of belittling something cool you have done to make themselves feel better about the fact that they have never once done anything worth mentioning.

These people are just evil. Old school italians who have nothing better to do than gossip about other people..Since I came along I've been topic number 1. You should have heard the rambling when I built my DIY gas turbine out of old turbos. You'd think I built an atom bomb...On a brighter note her dad loves the Bar Monkey :)

Do what i do when annoying people come to the house, leave for the day. I won't sit there and put up a fake front for people i don't like to be around, family or not.

Get out of dodge!

There are far, FAR worse things that could happen during a "mid-life crisis" than building an arcade cabinet.  My wife has been 100% behind the cabinet since I built it 4 or 5 years ago.  I could be at the bar instead of playing a ton of great games in the comfort of my own home.

And if someone wants to belittle your cabinet, they don't need to play on it. :)

Didn't say the fiancee isn't behind it...she has her own. And that's what I'm leaning towards is running fast and far away. Just don't wanna leave the lady behind to take all the flak so I might have to be a trooper and take one for the team. The only downside is that she's at work and I work from home...so in a sense I get to babysit all day and play the "good boy" role till she gets off work. But that's not to say I can't put headphones on and drown out the harpies :)

He did say "arcade collection" not "my mame cab".  There is a real difference there.

Yes I do have a collection...I have 8 working cabs....3 pinballs and 4 nonworking cabs. And I build every DIY thing I get my hands on. My house is a shrine to DIY inner childhood.

My inlaws are deceased. I wouldn't mind PBJ's inlaw situation, though.

My inlaws aren't really interested either way, but they still think it is neat - just not their thing.

Wow.
Someone for everyone, I guess.

You've degraded your rep around here so bad it isn't even worth my time to retort. This is all you get. Sorry. ::)

My in-laws live in the Caribbean and we sit out on their porch and drink rum all day, with occasional trips to the beach.

Inevitably I end up fixing some computer or electronic problem, but it's a fair trade off.

Wierd....my PARENTS live in the Caribbean (Cayman Brac) on the beach, and when we visit we sit on the porch and drink rum all day  8)

I also inevitably end up fixing some computer or electronics problems...and it is MOST DEFINATELY a fair trade off.....

Anyway, back OT now that I've not just skimmed and saw another wierd parallel with PBJ....

My inlaws are the total sucks!  I hate visiting them, I hate it when they visit.  Actually, my FIL is ok, it's the step-MIL that's a total drag.  Unfortunately, my wife set it up so that we're going to visit them for thanksgiving this year.......

Not only is the MIL a total drag, she's a terrible cook....

Sure, and if up is down, left is right, and the sky is praple, then you're right....

Last time I checked, the Cayman Islands were west of Jamaica and south of Cuba.....smack dab in the upper left corner of the Caribbean Sea......

Tomorrow I'm thinking of putting valerian root in with they're scrambled eggs so they take a nap and give me some free time. I'd be asleep right now but the sound of 2 chainsaws ripping apart a grizzly bear is emitting from they're bedroom.
