Which Dreamcast VGA adapter to get?
« on: September 23, 2007, 11:04:52 pm »
Anyone have any suggestions on where I should get a Dreamcast VGA adapter?  I see a few on ebay but I'm not sure of the brand.  Does it make a difference or do they all perform the same?

Thanks!

the cable type you snip back pin 6 on the end that goes intot he system and on the box type you snip wire 6 on the inside of the box.

the clear case hais vga box on ebay work fine but some moniotrs require a amp to display the DC right and mine was one of them.

if your going to use it for vga only then nothing needs to be done to them but for a 15K display the pin/wire #6 needs to be clipped.

A couple of years ago I bought a Naki VGA-box because it was very cheap. I use it straight into a VGA display and it works perfectly. I don't think there's a huge difference between VGA boxes given that the DC outputs a VGA signal natively. If you're going straight into a monitor and don't need to mod it, I'd go with the cheapest one that has all the outputs you need.

I've got an official Sega brand VGA adapter and couldn't be happier!  I did have to spend more to get it that you would on a 3rd party one but generally speaking, you can't get better products than first party peripherals.

P.S.
I believe I spent like $60-70 on ebay for it in case you were wondering.
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen
