MAMEWAH problems. Can anyone lend a hand?
« on: May 01, 2003, 11:14:08 am »
Ok so here's my problem. I've got mamewah set up in what I think is the proper fashion but no matter game I try to start I get a "Runtime error 5, invalid argument" something or other. Now, I've heard good things about mamewah and I know the author "minwah" I believe frequents these boards so I'm hoping that someone has a solution for me. I've been using advanceMenu for a little while, with no problems but I like the idea of hiding the windows environment.

I've cleaned up all my roms with clrmamepro, and I can start all my roms through either a command line or with advanceMenu.

What am I missing in mamewah? Even the few snapshots I have are displaying correctly in mamewah I just can't get any of the games started. I use split rom sets, so I unchecked the "merged sets" in mamewah, but that didn't seem to have any effect.

Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

What version of MAMEWAH are you running?

The most recent download off the mamewah site v.90 I think, and I run Windows XP.

I just seems so strange that it isn't working. The game list displays just fine. It can distinquish clones and removes them when I check that option, it displays my screenshots from the snap directory. I looked through the cfg file (didn't change anything) to see if there was some significant that I was missing and everything looked in order. I just don't understand.

I'm some experience dinking around in the guts of programs these things, and it just seems that mamewah is so simple, and yet I can't get it working.

Thanks for the reply.

I haven't heard of this problem before, usually a problem in the config file will cause it to crash straight away, not letting you do anything.  Nikodemz, could you email me the 'MAMEWAH.CFG' file to minwah1959@hotmail.com for me to check out just in case ?
