strange rom issues
« on: September 16, 2007, 11:43:39 pm »
I have 3 versions of mame running each with their own Rom lists.. of which only a few will work.

Some of the working ones have strange things happening.

For example Bubblebobble.. works fine except player2 will just bounce ontop of the bubbles without popping them. Also the 'waterslide' bubble will only carry player1 and passes straight through player2.

Carrier air wing, for some reason player1's bombs will just drop randomly without the player using the bomb button.

and then more serious issues such as doubledragon. It will only work if you hold down the 'coin' button. As soon as you release it the game freezes.

any ideas about these issues?

The first thing you probably want to do if you haven't already done so is to audit the roms you have.  If you have one of the rom tools it'll do it for you easily.  Otherwise, check out http://www.mameworld.net/maws/ in comparison to the versions you have and see if they match up w/ the version of mame you're running.

after that, a good search on the mame testers site would be useful.
