Emulators on the new PSP?
« on: September 13, 2007, 11:33:03 pm »
What's the advance word on this?  I've been thinking about picking up one of the new, slimmer units.  Should I wait to see how it shakes out?

I've heard it's already been hacked, although I'm not sure if the procedure is public information yet.  If it isn't, give it a week or two.

it can be modded but most homebrew doesnt work. from what I heard, only nes emu works on the new psp. they are releasing a full custom firmware with all features very soon though. its safe to get a slim psp.

The new M33 custom 3.60 slim firmware has been out for a couple of days. Not ALL homebrew works, but most of it does, and it's not going to get any better than that for a while.

The good news is only a small amount doesnt work, and the developers can easily change them so they do =)

From what I heard your going to need to find someone with a psp fat and pandora's battery to get custom firmware running on the slim. http://www.psp-hacks.com

Well, I went and bought one.  Comes with a game and some Family Guy episodes.  Not a bad deal.  If they can get all the emulators working I'll be a happy boy.  Using it as a movie player looks promising also.

good news....my psp is getting long in the tooth....its a bit worse for wear and had a recent issue getting soaked  :-\ but it still works.....

I wouldn't mind a new one, but would hate to not be able to play homebrew on it......

Ripped Star Wars to a memory stick.  Great quality!  I guess I'm a little late to the PSP party.  Nice unit.

SNES9x TYL 0.4.2 works with the new slim and the 3.60 M33 fw (albeit a bit slow).  Haven't found a NES or Genesis emu that work yet, though.
