Lost my green
« on: September 13, 2007, 07:52:51 pm »
Hey guys,

Ive got a 36" neotec monitor/chassis in a Midway Arctic Thunder that has lost the green color bar completly. Any suggestions on which parts to replace before I do the cap kit.  I dont have the schematic for the chassis so if any of you guys have a pdf of it or link, i would like to get it if its not to much trouble.

Because of this fourm I ended up getting a part time job as a arcade tech here in Lewisville, TX at Mainevent. I just got addicted after restoring a few monitors and complete cabinets as a hobby at home, now im surrounded by the stuff. Its fantastic experience and i work on everything here down to board level repair. :applaud:
Anyways, thanks for anyhelp reguarding the chassis.

Do not do a cap kit!!

Likely a shorted video transistor.

Rickn,

Thanks for the reply and I agree with not replacing the caps considering this game is only 6 years old and all the other colors are their. The video transistor you refer to would likely be located on the neck board? If anyone knows the board location of the video transistor that would be great. Then i could get the part # for it.  Thats is why i want the schematic.

Thanks again,

Grantspain,

Good to hear from you, you helped me on a hatarex polo chassis a while back and the thing is working perfect, so a big thanks to you. The video transistor would be located on the neck board for the green correct? If so, then i Should'nt have too much trouble, I just want to be sure that is the place i would find it.  Have a great vacation.

Thanks,

Grantspain,

Sorry to hear that, but i know the feeling my wife's sister is visiting with her two kids and pair them up with my daughter and you have the definition of a Texas Tornado. Anyway thanks again.

Grantspain - I fully understand.... I don't remember the last time a vacation was an actual "vacation".

Hawkypro - You should find three sets of transistors, resistors, etc on the neck card.
One set for each of the Red, Blue, and Green circuits.
Check the neck card real good for cold solder joints as well as comparing meter readings between the known working colors and the bad Green circuit.
You could even swap two of the transistors around to verify if you needed to.
Also check for the simple stuff too, like a dodgy green video signal wire connection.

Hehe.... "dodgy".... I like that word... Grantspain got me started on that one.  ;D

Kevin,

I see three transistors connected to heatsinks. And three others without heatsinks Q901 - 903.  I checked the neck card and looks as though someone has worked on it before, so im going to reflow the solder, which wont take to long.

Thanks,

Hawkypro
