Exiting Zsnes with a key combo
« on: September 12, 2007, 07:15:42 pm »
I am using wahcade to launch games on my linux box. One problem I faced was how to exit games without having to install extra buttons which would upset the authenticity of the machine.

With xmame I solved this problem by requiering that the user press both the one and two player start buttons at the same time to exit the game.

The problem: I want to use the same method for exiting Snes games (Which are being emulated using zsens) but Zsnes does not allow key combinations.

Any ideas?

You could concievably do that in hardware by wiring Player 1 and Player 2 buttons in series to a channel mapped to ESC. see crappy diagram below.

Someone please speak up if this wont work. Its just an idea and the usual disclaimers apply about me not being responsible for your ipac bursting into flames or whatever.

That is a brilliantly simple solution! It would work perfectly because the wires would only be connected if both buttons were depressed at the same time.

Thank you so much for you help, and even drawing a picture. (It was the picture that made it make sense to me).

Thanks,

What comes of being an electrician, not a programmer ;D
