Installing ArcadeVGA Drivers
« on: September 11, 2007, 12:03:27 pm »
I have a PC with an ArcadeVGA card hooked up to a WG monitor.

The BIOS screen displays fine, as does the Windows boot screen, but then when it gets into Windows (2000) it just displays a 4 inch black and white band at the top of the screen. I can't get a picture I can work with to install the drivers no matter how much I adjust the pots. Windows safe mode is no better.

So how do I install the drivers?

I tried taking the ArcadeVGA card out but I can't install the drivers unless it's in there.

Any ideas?

You should be installing the drivers with a regular PC monitor attached (to the DVI port).  That should solve your problem.

Thanks but I've got one of the older cards that doesn't have DVI out.

I don't get anything on a regular monitor from either of the 9-pin DSUB's on it.

Sounds like there is a bigger problem here.  Even with the older card you are supposed to be able to connect a PC monitor to one of the ports.  Is the PC a new build, or did you have a different video card installed previously?  You might have some old drivers mucking things up.

Yes I had some old NVIDIA drivers installed. Removed them, still the same.

So I put the driver setup file in the Startup folder and did it blind.. sorted!

Thanks for your help.
