Centering the hole for joystick mount
« on: September 03, 2007, 10:08:41 pm »
How do you center the joystick shaft? Do you drill the hole first then route out the recess or vice versa? This is for a bottom mount joystick.

Do you eyeball it or is there a more exact method?

Thanks

Easiest way to do it in my opinion is to remove the shaft (usually just a clip holding it on) and then mark the mounting holes.  Draw a line from the lower left hole to the upper right hole and then a line from the lower right to the upper left hole.  Where they cross at the "x" is the center.  Then use a 1 1/8 i believe it is to cut the center hole out.  Good luck!

I just layout the joystick mounting plate on the CP and drill out the center using a 1-1/8" bit.  I haven't come across a joystick that didn't center the stick in the mounting plate.

Drill the hole and then center the stick, mark the mounting holes and then drill them.  After you confirm the joystick is perfect, route the underside to desired height.
