Anyone have any insight on this monitor?  It came out of a Virtua Fighter so I am ASSUMING it is medium resolution?   Evidently the monitor is dim,   but I got it as part of a trade.  Anyone know anything about this chassis?   I thought I read somewhere it was both CGA/EGA but?!?

Yes I believe that is a dual res model. There should be a jumper plug that you move from one connector to another. The connectors are labeled "LOW" (standard res) and "HIGH" (medium res).

As to repairs, forum member JOMAC (from Austraila) used to frequent here alot and post some fixes. He specializes in these monitors and recently wrote a book for Star Tech Journal ("Ultimate Monitor Repair Book") which details several fixes to this model. The book is way overpriced at $50 though, but covers many brands and models in addition to yours.

i have a lot these chassis,they are used on lots of sega games.
these are a dual res(15/25) monitor with a jumper plug for the switching.
there is a cap on the neck card which causes a poor/dim picture

Do you happen to know which CAP?  I'm guessing there isn't many...maybe I'll just replace them all.  There is a slight bit of burn-in,  but nothing major.

I am running one also and never had any problems and it is duel res as stated above by both members just swap the harness on the chassis.

there is only one electrolitic on the neck card i think its 250v 22uf

On my Nanao MS8-26SU neck board there is only one electrolytic capacitor as mentioned above.

It is C332 10uf @ 250Volts.

I replaced it recently while working on a chassis and I think the original was 160v but I always go for the 250 volt on the neckboard when possible. Just an extra margin of longevity.

I have one of those that I've been tinkering around with for a while, and when I first went from low res to high res mode(well the first time I did it and it actually worked-lol) I had a very dim picture(where before in low res it had been quite bright)...long story short, carefully tweaking the 2 knobs on the back of the monitor(signal and focus I believe?) fixed the problem for me...bare in mind it took me some time to find the "sweet spot" but once I found it the picture is much improved...at any rate, I might try that before I try replacing parts. Something I did notice with this monitor(which is coincidentally the reason I couldn't get mine working properly for the longest) is that it seems much more sensitive than my other monitors to signal strength...as I recall, jomac told me something to that effect as well when I spoke with him about it at the time. Anyhoo, just trying to help.
