33 inch monitor replacement
« on: August 30, 2007, 04:22:58 pm »
I have what I believe to be a WG U2000 or 3000 that has fried on me.  IT's a 33 inch monitor from a showcase cabinet.  I've worked a lot with 19 and 25's, and I know with 25's basically all the chassis work.  Is it the same with the 33's?  I really would just like to get a chassis replacement from Alva Amusements, but I want to make sure the 833H is the right replacement.

Thanks for the help.

Generally speaking when it is a CGA/Standard Res, most manufacturers have folllowed reasonable/good design practise.

When you get to Mid (EGA) res and higher a number of them do not pay attention to the inductance of the yoke close enough.

If the horizontal inductance is not right- early failures of HOT. If vertical inductance, say bye bye to the vertical output.

In fact in some cases- I know of one with a manufacturer "I think" started with a K, where the yoke got so hot it melted the epoxy that bonded it.

Anyway, as I said good news, sounds like you have a standard res, so matching it with a chassis should be easy.

But you must be 100% confident the tube is good, not low on emission, missing colors or burnt...

Next it is important to know what yoke and tube are used. This is important for things like size....even more important for heater voltage... if too low- low brightness. Too high, burns out the tube.

When you talk 32"~34" now we are also talking the possibility of single focus or double focus- in this case look at the back of the tube or neck board. There is a triangular shape- if in this there is 1 pin it is single focus, if 2 pins then double focus.

All of this is pretty simple when you do it every day, can be intimidating if not.

Feel free to conatct me and I will be glad to help.

best way is my e-mail below if you are in a rush- I check it all the time.

If not and the question may be of value to others go ahead and post, but drop me an e-mail separately so I do not miss it.
