Golden Tee Fore 101
« on: August 28, 2007, 04:03:11 pm »
Hey all. I hope this is the correct forum....If not help a noob out.  ;D

I'm starting to gather supplies to create my own Golden Tee Fore box. I'm wanting to go ahead and make the whole damn thing.

Where I'm confused is how this game updates itself and whats the difference b/w a red card and a green card?

This looks like a good start what do yall think?

That auction looks like a great bargain.  It is listed as Golden Tee "Extras" kit, and I am guessing that means that it still has the 3 bonus courses from GT 2004.  However, you can't play all the courses unless the machine is hooked up to a phone line and you have set up an account with Incredible Technologies.   It will be that way with any GT board and drive set UNLESS you upgrade to Golden Tee Complete.  This is a $500 (when I bought it) upgrade CD that puts ALL of the Golden Tee Fore courses on your machine which you can play as much as you want.  You have to connect the main board to a phone line and hook up a CD-Rom drive to the main board in order to complete the upgrade.  It takes a few minutes and once you do it you shouldn't ever have to do anything else.

The difference between the green main board and the red main board is that the red board can use a standard ATX computer power supply.  The green board uses a power supply that has proprietary connections for the board.  They both do the same thing.

The trackball in that auction looks good - it has the red encoder boards which are much better than the green encoder boards.  These encoder boards are not to be confused with the red and green GT main board - it's completely different and just coincidence that they're the same color.

Here is one board that converts to Composite or S-Video.

There is also a version of the board that will convert to component video as well.

(the 4.1 version)
