South Park Pinball Mod a.k.a Too Much Free Time
« on: August 16, 2007, 05:39:46 pm »
Just thought that I would post a mod that I did that turned out pretty cool.

I took a Giant talking Towelie figure and wired it up to a switch on the left drain hole. I then wired the speaker to the main speaker in the bottom of the cab. Whenever I drain a ball in the left hole it triggers Towelie to spew his words of wisdom. Cool.

Next I mounted Towelie on the top of the backbox but he was looking a little bare. I took an old red Radio Shack light bulb and rolled it into a "joint" and put it in his hand. I wired the bulb into the backbox where I tapped it into a 5v power source. I added some cotton "smoke" to complete the effect.

That officially kicks ass! You should submit that to gameroom magazine. I bet they'd publish it.

That's cool.  Does he stay up when you nudge the machine?

Well, that's where we go a-ridin' into town, a whampin' and whompin' every livin' thing that moves within an inch of its life. Except the women folks, of course.

Haha, that's awesome.

I was trying to find some mods for my Jurassic Park machine, but I hadn't seen much out there. There are TONS of JP toys, so I could probably do something similar to this.

Dude. That's a GREAT idea!  I should wire him up so he works on the tilt switch!

Good stuff!

....but does he stay up? ???

If he keeps falling down, that'd get kind of annoying.

I didn't see a plate for a base (weight) unless your flash wasn't highlighting it.  I see you said you mounted him on there - epoxy or something, or just placed him on top?

It's actually pretty cool.  He has metal rods going through the entire length of his body.  They stick out about 1/4 inch out of the bottom.  These originally mounted on the base.  I just pushed them into the backbox wood and he stays up perfectly.  If I removed him the holes are so shallow that they could be filled in with paint and not be noticed.

Wow, that's truly awesome.  Nice work.

When Towelie plays "Funky Town" on the keypad.   :laugh2:

Ha!  I totally misread that.  On South Park they were always having to nudge him to keep him from dosing off.  I thought that's what you meant.  Like to nudge the machine and make him talk.  Too funny.  You stumbled upon a great idea and didn't even realize it :)
