gfx problem driving me crazy
« on: August 13, 2007, 01:59:14 pm »
im having a problem with me arcade cab, i bought a new graphics card(geforce 7600gs) and when i start the cab up wich has an arcade monitor btw, i get the windows loading screen and after that everything went black. windows is still running but i dont get any image trough the arcade monitor. disconnected the monitor and hooked up a pc screen while the pc was still running and i still didnt get any image.

Shut down the pc and restarted with the pc screen plugged in and there were no problems screen stayed and didnt go black after loading.

i think its something with the "advanced timings" in nvidia cause when i set the timings up i had an error wich said that they couldnt get enough information (on the arcade monitor wich was plugged in) and that the program would be exited.

can anyone help me plz? im desperate

You didn't mention what make/model of monitor you're using.

Wells Gardner what?  K4600?  D9200?  HUGE difference between the two makes a crapload of difference in the advice given.

couldnt find the exact specifications. However i think this is more of a software problem.

Ill go into a bit deeper details.

I used to use a geforce4 ti4200 card, i was running the arcade monitor fine on that card, didnt have any problems. It all started with the 7600gs. I installed the drivers for that card and when i  i changed the resolutions in "advanced settings" it all started i had a message there wich stated that it didnt have enough info to work properly and it was going to exit the application, from there on i had the problem of the arcade monitor turning black after the windows loading screen.
I did several formats wich didnt help.

After that i formatted again with my old gfs card (the ti4200) but i doesnt work anymore with this card either, still getting the black screen. So i dont think ill ever get the arcade monitor to work with the 7600gs.

Id like to get it going again with the ti4200 thou but after a format it seems that the pc remembers the gfx settings and drivers. Is there any way to do a format where everything is deleted? Drivers and all? tyvm for the help btw

why dont you connect it up to a pc monitor ,it sounds like its defaulting to 30k horizontal (pc monitor frequency) . Then install your powerstrip software/15k tool/driver or whatever you were using to set it to 15khz,also your new graphic card might not output at 15khz that well.
