Hantarex MTC9000 power conenction Q
« on: August 10, 2007, 02:59:08 am »
Hi,

Just bought a stripped cabinet.  The monitor is still in there, and I'm looking to reuse it.
But looking in the manuals for the monitor, I don't see anything how to put current on the monitor.

I've found a connector for the rgb signals and one for the current. The last one has 4 pins, 2 for 110Volts and 2 for 240 Volts.

I'm assuming I'm missing a crucial part here, and would like to know what is needed for doing some tests to see if the monitor is still of any use.

Just connecting a AC240 -> AC110 transformer seems to me not the way to go.

Thanks

Johan

the mtc9000 uses the 240volts pair for the degauss circuit and 120volt pair for the monitor main power supply, the monitor will boot up with only 120vac connected but you will get problems with magnetic fields as the degauss circuit will not function(all it means is your picture may have funny looking colour spread)

Hi

As I understand it, for testing I could just connect the 110V using a regular AC transformer.
Afterwards I can then connect the degausser straight from the wall to 240V ?  Since the two wires to transporting the 240 v are very thin, I'm a little afraid for metling them ?

I will try the 110 volt power up this weekend and see what happens.

Thanks for the reply.

yes, normally we wired the 240v to the input side terminals of the transformer and the 110/120v to the output(secondary) side, the monitor is only likely to pull about 3amps so the cable does not need to be robust
