Best trade-in values?
« on: August 09, 2007, 02:11:01 pm »
I've got about 20 GBA games that I'd like to get more from than $2-3 each.... Like to use the money towards a DS or PSP... other than holding a game-only yardsale out of a shoebox in my driveway, any suggestions? (no family or work takers)... oh, and *gasp* I'm not really familiar with selling on eBay.... or should I resign myself to taking whatever EB gives me (which won't be much, dirty criminals...)

your best bet would be to see what EB or Gamestop would offer you if you did a trade-in for a used DS or PSP.  they might give you a bit more knowing you're going to buy something directly from them.

otherwise, I'd say that ebay has the highest potential to fetch most value....

Gamecrazy SAYS that they give more trade in than any other store, and if you have their 'MVP' card I think you get an extra 10% on top of that - other than a store, list in the B/S/T thread, you never know what people want  :dunno

The last thing you want to do is bring it to gamestop and let them rob you. The only time you should go there is a last resort when all else fails and you don't care about getting ripped off.

I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

I've never understood the "evil gamestop" opinion.... they have a set list and price they pay.  If you don't like what they'll pay then just don't sell it to them.  That doesn't make them evil, it just makes them a retail business.  Just about every time I go to our local Gamestop some fat chick is yelling at the clerk because he won't give her $40 for a copy of last year's Madden "cuz I paid you $55 for it last year".

When you sit there and just spent 50.00 on a game and come back the next day and they only want to give you 7.00 for it you might tend to think they are evil and get alittle pissed. I know they are there to make money but come on, how can they sit there with a straight face and kick you right in the ass and get a way with it. If they had some decent trade in values and didn't make it seem like you were getting gang raped every time you walked in there, they might get more customers and be a company people stand up for.

So, if I sell you something today for $50... and you come back a year later and want near full price for it... and we both know it has literally no market value now (sports games retain no value at all)... who is trying to rip who off?

When you buy that game, ask them waht they will buy it back for later.  The info is all available ahead of time.  If you don't like what they'll give you later sell it to someone else.  Odds are no one else is going to give you much more.
