Going with a "Street Fighter 2 player" Control Panel layout

After thinking i could get away with a 20" CRT PC Monitor, I've been convinced to get a 27" TV with Svideo and Component inputs.

Ultimarc 360 joystick with 8 button wiring harness (I originally was going with Happ Supers with an Ipac)

Happ Buttons with Horizontal Microswitch.

Extra tray for Keyboard and Mouse

Using PC speakers



Looking over this list, is ther anything that I should / shouldn't be doing?  Just trying to get a guage on my progress so far.

You may want to consider how many buttons you'll need total. Here are some frequently used inputs for 2 players:

8 inputs for joystick directions
12 inputs for action buttons
2 inputs for coin up
1 input for a dedicated quit
1 input for a dedicated pause

If you go with the 360's - you already have the joystick inputs covered. You'll just need to make sure 8 inputs per player is enough for all your buttons you may want. Have you started a mock control panel design?

I'd get a a saw guide (I think that is the right word)...I helps a lot when trying to cut those lines.

I was kinda wondering about that too.
I think I'd need to get an Ipac to cover enough buttons, otherwise I'm stuck with using a shift key continually. Which is OK but annoying.

I wonder if the Happ Supers would do instead of the U360's?  Tough one.

What kind of games are you interested in? I build my cabinets controls based on what games I want them to play. On the 4 way cabinet the monitor is vertical and there are only 3 action buttons. I use Wico sticks on them. On my street fighter style games I use supers with 6 buttons.

Totally different sticks. The U360 isn't just an 8 way. It can have maps sent to it to switch between 4 way, 8 way, diagonals, etc. U360's plug in via USB and don't require a controller.

Good luck selling your sticks, but maybe you should have PM'd the person instead of spamming their Project Announcement.

I wasn't spamming it.  I was offering him mine before he paid retail.

Either way, P360's can be 4 way or 8 way as well...though somewhat more painfully.

to answer your question about p360 vs u360. The U360 is many sticks in one. After you set it up, it will change the controls digitally once you select a game. So, if you load up qbert - only the diagonals work. When you load up Galaga - it's a 2 way. Pacman it's a 4 way. Etc. The P360 is decent, but it doesn't really compare apples to apples vs the U360. I wish Ultimarc gave the U360 a different name so people wouldn't be confused.
