need help compiling mame 117...i'm an idiot...
« on: August 03, 2007, 07:03:00 pm »
hey guys, i need help, and in a hurry...

i am running mame 117 and all seems pretty good.  since i went with a theme for my cabinet, zak-man (after my son, zak).  anyway to make a long story short, i found a program that will allow me to edit text in the pacman roms.  i named the ghosts after family members and such and all is working fine...however now when i launch the pacman rom, i get a warning that one or more roms/chds are incorrect and may not play correctly.

i looked around for a while and from what i found, supposedly i can compile my own version of mame to add the skip_warnings option.  the problem is, i dont know how to do this.

the only guides i found were for older versions and didn't seem relevant.  i downloaded the sourcecode for mame 117, and the compiling utility.  after extracting the source code, i looked through some of the files, but cant seem to figure out how to enable this option.  (or if that is even the right option to enable).

is there a guide to show me how to do this?  i really would like to get rid of that warning, i know the rom is incorrect, i made it that way..  it runs fine so i dont want the warning there all the time.

i have a friend coming over to visit tomorrow, and i havent seen him in years.  i really want to be able to show this off to him, but i just cant figure it out.

please help

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

i am just getting ready for bed and my cabinet is already shut down for the evening (my hacked pacman rom is only on the cabinet, not my main pc, and since i cant run fullscreen dos apps on vista, i cant patch it again on this pc...)

anyway, i tested it and it worked with other games having the same error. for instance, goldenaxe used to give me the same error...after the patch, no more loading screens, and no more warnings.  so i have a feeling that tomorrow when i patch mame on my cabinet, all will be good with zakman. :)

thank you so much...this just made my day
