VGA Output on arcade PCBs?
« on: August 02, 2007, 01:03:00 am »
(possibly stupid question)

I've got a Midway Skins board, which essentially looks like a PC motherboard (uses hard drive also).  It has a PCI slot on it.  Is it possible to use a PCI video card and output the video for the game to a VGA monitor rather than the RGB on the jamma harness?

Thanks,
Stobe

Is this the pcb you are asking about?   If so I do not think it is a standard PC.  Is there a card on your pcb like the picture?   If so what does it connect to?  I cannot see where the ribbon cable goes in the pic.  While some new PC mboards have jamma now 2007 (new game/gambling pc boards) back when this game was made I do not think there were jamma connectors on PC mbs.

System 16 has some just as crappy photos. Extreme closeup photos and they still couldn't get a decent shot of the daughter card?! The connector looks similar to an ethernet jack. Or maybe it's some kind of USB card since there's a place on the PCB right next to it but no USB components installed.

Yup, thats the PCB.  But mine doesn't have the daughtercard.   :dunno

tt has the IDE cable that plugs in right next to the (what looks like) PCI slot.  And on the far side of the board haa a riser that has 2 DB9 (serial?) and 1 DB25 (parallel?) connectors, as well as 2 RJ-45's.

Thanks,

the PCI card that goes in that spot is an ethernet card that was supposed to connect to the "Midway tournament network"...also that ribbon cable connects to the hard drive ;)

If y'all need more pics of that pcb set, let me know...I have one
